I heard about Reclaim13 through Parkview Church where I attend. What prompted me to get involved was a book I had read when teaching Character Education called Free The Children. It opened my eyes to exploited child laborers and child sex trafficking. It broke my heart, so I decided I was going to fight against this human crisis. At the time, I helped gather school supplies as an international social project with my students, and we donated them to Free The Children. This organization then sent the supplies to exploited child laborers in Southeast Asia. I have also purchased goats for single mothers in third world countries to use as an alternative income. So when I heard about Reclaim13, I wanted to continue to fight against exploited child labor, specifically children who have been sex trafficked.

I started volunteering for Reclaim13 almost 4 years ago. Currently my roles include: the Director of Education, a First Responder, and a Tutor. I am very passionate about raising awareness of sex trafficking by presenting education and prevention programs to local populations. Additionally, I am honored to serve Reclaim13 as a tutor and First Responder because the girls’ education is a stepping-stone to a better life. I love to spend time with them and help them with their schoolwork. I love them very much, and they hold a very special place in my heart.
